The Smith Mountain Lake Harmeneer Chorus is sponsoring a new Youth in Harmony program that will offer opportunities for area high school students, both male and female. The program is designed to advance a cappella singing among youth in our region. Realistically that would include the areas of Smith Mountain Lake, Rocky Mount and Lynchburg. The opportunities for interested young people include the chance to attend Harmony Camps in the Mid Atlantic region, competitions and possibly show performances. The Harmeneers will cover expenses. Music and coaching will be provided.
The point of contact for the Harmeneers is Earl Mannoia. Earl emphasizes that the objective of this program is not to seek new members for the Harmeneer Chorus. While participants would certainly be welcomed in the chorus, the objective is to encourage young people to experience the fun of singing four-part harmony. The following site gives a good indication of what participants can expect to experience: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsYjfr7Oz5A&feature=player_embedded
